Class Two - Limited sexual content (Contains Same Sex Relationships) Dallas Devlin was 15 years old. That fact is the only mundane thing about him. He is a child of the Shadrani, a race of people renown for the sexual bliss called “Shadra”. Alone, unsure of where he is in the world—a problem for all of us, not just 15-year old boys—Dallas’ only connection to his history is a book, one owned by his unknown father. The story opens as Dallas’ world unravels, throwing him into one of desperation, homelessness, and sexual addiction. We are also introduced, via Dallas’ book, to Revar, son of the Prince of Gemen and Calli, royal daughter of King Sadone of the Sorisi. A child of two dynasties. A child that could unite the two warring factions. A child who is in danger of assassination SONS OF GEMEN unfolds in two timelines. We watch Dallas’ world implode at the same time we watch Revar struggle for acceptance. We watch two boys come of age in two complex and dangerous societies, their behavior and their challenges deepening the knowledge gained in author Novak’s PRINCE OF GEMEN. Through Dallas’ book of the Shadrani, we learn of the destruction of the people, and how they came to be scattered throughout the galaxies I was hooked from page one. One word best describes this story: stunning. SONS OF GEMEN is Speculative Fiction at its best. Not a romance in a traditional sense, the reader is drawn down varying emotional paths, all equally complex and fascinating. Love Forbidden. Soul Mates. Love Unrequited. Self-Sacrificing Love. Is I read, I raged and wept, swept along the books two timelines. I feel that SONS OF GEMEN can rival Tolkin’s Two Towers, with world building on a mega-scale and a complex plot and mesmerizing story that could possibly eclipse the first book. I eagerly await the yet unpublished—hopefully not ‘undreamed’—final chapter of the Shadrani. Should you pick up SONS OF GEMEN, or book one of the series, entitled PRINCE OF GEMEN, you too will find yourself drawn into an awe-inspiring journey of not only people, but also of souls. Highly, highly recommended. NOTE: This review is based on a previous version Click HERE to purchase |
